Huatulco is situated 300 miles southeast of Acapulco on a 35 km stretch of pristine bays, coves & inlets known as Bahias de Huatulco - The Bays of Huatulco (WAH-TOOL-CO).
Access to this area has never been simpler, as Huatulco has a modern international airport only 20 minutes away. There are more and more direct charter flights from Canada, the U.S.A. and Europe every month, with regular daily flights.
A large part of Huatulco's appeal lies in a series of 9 bays, encompassing 36 beaches & numerous inlets & coves. Untouched by pollution and teeming with marine life and tropical flora, each have their own unique setting and ecology. All are noted for their lovely beaches of soft, golden sand & crystal clear water, and remain pleasantly primitive. Some are more isolated than others, sometimes accessible only by boat. Of the 9 bays allocated for development today, 6 are "tourist ready" with visitor facilities.
Despite the new purchasing opportunities available, any concerns of the Huatulco area falling prey to congestion and loosing its authenticity, are unfounded. Many large developers, upon discovering this "secret paradise" and looking to set up shop in the area, are restricted in their activities by the area's ecological certification.
Considered one of a very few Green Globe locations in the world, a large percentage of Huatulco's land area is protected from large-scale development by federal government agencies. One such government agency, Fonatur, has already invested over $800 million to ensure Huatulco stays "green", forestry reserves remain intact, and that development doesn't impact the natural ecology negatively.
Las Garzas Beach truly finds the right balance of unspoiled natural experience combined with the conveniences of modernity nearby. La Crucecita, Santa Cruz & Tangolunda are closely located & comprise the resort area in the state of Oaxaca known as Huatulco.
